Resume:

Japanese "ume" plums are the fruit of a tree related to both apricot and plum. Closer to apricots than plums, they can only be eaten after being macerated or cooked, not raw. The best quality ume are nanko-ume. Most of the time, nanko-ume are used as umeboshi, but recently they are also used to make umeshu (Japanese plum alcohol), sweets and juice.

The Japanese company Captain was founded in 1935. At the time, it only produced alcohol, but today it mainly produces syrups in a variety of flavours.

Made in Japan.
